Say yes, and work it out later
You know how we are told, particularly women, to say yes to opportunities, and then work out the details later?
Well…..
I have been chasing down a few speaking opportunities, at conferences and on podcasts and well, quite a few are coming off.
And I’m now in the “work it out later stage” and the ideas I pitched (which were creative and on point) I now have to have add some detail to them. Eeek!
Tell me you do this too.
Once I pitched the idea of sending a singing telegram to a regional office, to celebrate their last month’s revenue results.
The CEO loved the idea!! Could I deliver on the idea? Well, no. Singing telegrams are hard to come by in country Australia.
So, yes I’m avoiding this work big time.
Yes I’m procrastinating.
Yes I wish I was good at being structured and planning my work.
I often start in the middle by doing research, collecting ideas and patching things together. It all comes together in the end but it does seem the long (and stressful) way to approach it.
Tell me you do this too.
So do I have any pithy and intelligent points on improving your diversity & inclusion work this week?
No.
Luckily last week I ran a masterclass on building a business case for diversity & inclusion work. You can grab ALL the resources here if you missed it.
