Conversations
The difference a conversation can make….
I have a project that’s come out of some inclusion survey results. I have been dreading it a bit to be honest. Not because the work is not needed or because I don’t think it’s important, but because it’s a massive project and because I think the way I was going to approach the project may not get the best outcome. But I didn’t really know why…..it was just a feeling.
So I kept moving and kept talking to people. Because you have to keep moving.
And then I had a conversation with someone about some work they were doing and I started to think about how their approach could connect with my project. And then I talked to someone senior in the organization I work in about that conversation and how it changed what I was thinking.
And in one of those glorious moments of synchronicity (which I love) she had taken some “thinking” time out the afternoon before and come to the same approach with the work she was doing.
It’s amazing how a conversation with someone you trust, who you always learn from and are always challenged by, can make such a difference. So this week is seek out those people if you are struggling with a problem. Have a conversation and make sure you listen. It might change your perspective for the better.
Languishing….
Did you relate to this article by Adam Grant on languishing?
Here’s his latest TED talk on the same topic and it’s great!
