How flexible are you?
On Sunday afternoon I found myself in front of the TV, watching the Tokyo Olympics artistic gymnastics competition. I competed in gymastics growning up so I’m one of those super painful people who judges all the performances as an “armchair expert” while eating salty-fatty snacks.
I was reflecting on how useful it was to have a background in gymastics. Aside from becoming an expert level* Olympic games commentator, it helped my coordination and flexibility well into adulthood.
Working in Diversity & Inclusion requires us to think critically about what’s going to work, and be flexible in our approach, because progress in businesses remains depressingly slow. For example, the World Economic Forum’s latest gender pay gap report shows the impact of COVID-19 pandemic increased the time to close the gender pay gap from 99.5 to 135.6 years!
One of the barriers to women staying in the workforce and progressing is accessing flexible work to balance priorities in life. On Thursday I’m speaking with Brooke Black about how she created a flexible work culture at her workplace. I would love to include you.

While we are on the topic of flexibility, if you like creativity and fun you should really check out this photographer. I found him down a rabbit hole on YouTube one day. He takes acrobats, gymnasts and dancers, challenges them to the most amazing poses and creates incredible images.
